Beautiful Breakfasts at Brento's

Have you checked out the Fruit and Veg City's Food Lover's Market yet?  This is what used to be the Honeydew Farm complex on Greendale Avenue, and they have kicked off with a bang with their grand opening on 17 November.  This is once again a busy, buzzing place, with all the thatched buildings back, the food market itself offering a super selection of fruit, veg, meat and deli foods, a nursery, pharmacy, pool shop, and the restaurant up and running again.  This pretty thatched restaurant with lots of room indoors and out on the verandah which overlooks the pretty nursery, now bears the name Brento's and is under new management.  When we went to check it out, it had only been open a wee but we'd already heard on the grapevine that the breakfasts were great and the hours very user friendly.  We checked that out and they certainly are – it's open Tuesday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm, Saturday, 8 am to 3 pm and Sunday, 8am to 11.30 am.  So this is a great spot for a leisurely breakfast, and especially for those who love to breakfast out on a Sunday.
There was certainly plenty to choose from in the breakfast line – just about everything you could think of really. For those who want a truly man-sized fry up, the biggest breakfast at Brento's will give you bacon, sausage, mushrooms, steak, tomatoes, French fries, baked beans, eggs, fried banana and toast!  Now if that doesn't satisfy, I doubt anything will!  There were other 'degrees' of cooked breakfast, moving from the hearty appetite this required, down to those of more modest hunger.
I'm all for a full English breakfast from time to time, but on this particular day, I fancied something a bit lighter.  So I opted for the Health Breakfast of creamy oats with natural yoghurt, roasted nuts, raisins and honey.  Delicious!  There was also a muesli version of this, if you prefer your cereals raw, and I was quite torn between the two, so I'll try that one next time!
My partner in crime chose the scrambled eggs with herbs, declaring them fine, but perhaps a little lacking in the promised herbs.
Of course, a quick study of the menu proved that there would be many other ways to enjoy breakfast at Brento's.  There are pancakes, waffles, scones, smoked salmon croissants, mushrooms on toast - it's all a question of taste.
The coffees were especially fantastic.  In fact there's a brilliant selections of beverages here, of so many kinds – the full range of versions of coffee you've heard of, and then some, lots of teas as well, milkshakes, smoothies, juices, something for everyone.  I couldn't resist the allure of the French Vanilla Mocha, and it was simply divine, and then moved on to the Caffe Mocha, which was equally delicious.
The décor is spick and span, crisp and clean, very modern, the bathrooms were the same, and though we'd sat down inside, we checked out the verandah which was busy, and looked like a good place to enjoy breakfast too.
It's great to see this entire complex back on its feet, and to see the restaurant, formerly burnt to a cinder, back, and evidently under some enthusiastic management and already doing well.  This was a weekday morning and it was already busy, and on enquiring about how things were going, though they'd only been open a week, they had been full to the brim on their very first Sunday.  The service was very good and
very friendly.
