The Chitungwiza Harmony Singers
The Cheeseman, inspired by their enthusiasm and that of their founder and conductor, Israel Dzangare, has been giving support of various kinds to the Chitungwiza Harmony Singers for many years.
Established by energetic Israel Dzangare in 1993, the Chitungwiza Harmony Singers have participated several times at HIFA, have performed at the Edinburgh Festival 2006, put up at several excellent concerts locally each year, and have for several years competed in the Old Mutual sponsored competition, which draws the very best choirs from all over the southern African region to compete for its top accolades.

Chitungwiza Harmony Singers take Third Place
in Regional Choral Contest
Accomplished Zimbabwean choir the Chitungwiza Harmony Singers are proud once again to have acquitted themselves very well in the annual Old Mutual Regional Choir Festival in late August.
Coming Third in the Region, which included the whole of South Africa, this is once again a very fine achievement for one of Zimbabwe's most prestigious choirs.
Whilst a little disappointed not to have won the Regional championships (which this excellent choir has three times scooped in the past) Dzangare and his 65 strong choir are nonetheless delighted to have got as far as they did and to have shown that with the right focus and diligence, Zimbabwean choristers can compete at the highest regional levels and show their mettle. Raising the funds and resources to be able to travel down to South Africa and compete was an enormous challenge in itself, but with various forms of assistance from The Cheeseman, Old Mutual, Croco Motors and Nissan, and some successful find raising concerts earlier in the year, they once again pulled if this fest and made it to the regional champs. |
