History
Established in 1996, The Cheeseman rapidly grew from a small operation in a back-garden cottage to a full scale nationwide distributor of a range of wholesome food and beverage products.
The Cheeseman began its life as a distribution company for Vumba Cheese, a range of top quality soft French-style cheeses and yoghurts, hand made on a farm in the Bvumba area, and widely heralded as meeting the best international standards.

Within less than a year, the company took on distributorship of Kefalos and Flame Lily cheeses and other dairy products, made at the Kefalos Factory in Harare South, a relationship that proved very fruitful for both parties, leading to rapid growth.
Quickly, the range of products distributed grew, incorporating Claremont Trout, Lake Harvest Tilapia, Vumba Coffee and Blue Mountain Fruit Juice in rapid succession.
Whilst Vumba Cheese was eventually discontinued, The Cheeseman itself continued to grow and to take on new product lines for distribution and soon, expanding out of its cottage environment, moved to its current premises.
The Flame Lily label was absorbed into the Kefalos brand, and Kefalos factory now also manufactures the very popular real dairy ice cream, Cortina, in a host of delicious flavours, also distributed by The Cheeseman.
With local fresh water Claremont Trout and Lake Harvest Tilapia proving to be excellent sellers, so popular they could not meet the national voracious demand for fish, The Cheeseman next added imported sea fish and seafood to its lines, under the label The Fishman. |
New product lines continue to be added to this day, and following the success of its original small retail outlet, in 2008, The Cheeseman Deli, a much larger operation, was opened.
The Deli stocks a very wide range of delicatessen foods and beverages including wines, in addition to all the usual Cheeseman products, and has proved exceedingly popular.
